A language course visa is the type of educational visa for foreign nationals who wish to take an intensive language course lasting from 3 to 12 months . The courses that the visa applicants are expected to take must include at least 18 hours of instruction per week .

In some cases, the language course visa can be extended for up to one year.

With a language visa you can:

• take part in an intensive German course,

• request an extension of the visa – the extension is offered for up to 1 year (calculated from the day of arrival in Germany).

• Work 20 hours/ per week

The validity of a language course visa is up to a course duration of three months to one year.

Documents required to apply for a language course visa are:

• Two duly completed visa application forms

• A valid passport

• Confirmed registration for the language course or certificate for the visa

• Proof of financing – 11,208 euros per year: blocked account. One of the easiest and fastest ways

• Health insurance – for the entire duration of your stay in Germany

• Photocopies of passport pages

• Passport photos

• Copies of previous Schengen visas (if applicable)

• A letter of motivation for attending the language course

• Proof of accommodation for the entire stay

• Proof of paid visa fee
